Our History

The Delaware Valley Chinese Crested Club was the formed by a group of Chinese Crested enthusiasts from around the Delaware Valley Pennsylvania area in 1986. Many of our founding members are still active members today.

The American Kennel Club recognizes the Delaware Valley Chinese Crested Club, Inc.as one of their Licensed AKC, Breed Clubs. A club is required to perform preliminary tasks prior to being recognized by the AKC in which the DVCCC has fulfilled.

The DVCCC first pre-AKC Point Show was held on November 15, 1986 with a Point show being held every year until 1992. On October 10, 1993, the DVCCC held it’s first A/OA Match Show; this would be the final stepping-stone to being a recognized AKC Licensed Breed Club. In March of 1994 the AKC notified the DVCCC of now being a fully recognized AKC Licensed Breed Club. This opened the doorway for the DVCCC to hold it’s very first AKC Sanctioned Point Show and Obedience Trial. On June 25, 1994 the DVCCC held it’s inaugural AKC Sanctioned Point Show and Obedience Trial in Trevose, Pennsylvania. Since this time, the DVCCC holds two AKC Sanctioned Point Shows and Obedience/Rally Trials a year on the 7th AKC Weekend in the month of February. The DVCCC now also offers an All-Breed Obedience & Rally Trial once a year being held in conjunction with our Annual B-Match and Canine Good Citizenship Testing.

The premise of the DVCCC is to offer a club in which fellow Chinese Crested enthusiasts from Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern & Central New Jersey and Delaware can share their varied interests in our lovely breed. The DVCCC Membership encompasses Chinese Crested Breeders, Exhibitors, Performance (Obedience, Agility, Flyball, Rally, etc.) and interested pet lovers. We are active within our Breeds Rescue offering a safe haven for Chinese Cresteds in need of re-homing as well as adopting out these beautiful souls once they have been evaluated, vet checked with all necessary medical attention and then matched with the ideal forever home. Public Education is also one of our important functions – the Chinese Crested is not a breed for everyone. We make ever effort to educate the public on our breed traits, grooming, conditioning etc.

The DVCCC is a relaxed, fun and productive club whose goal of the entire membership is to achieve the best that we can for the Chinese Crested Breed. We hold our Membership Meetings on the third Wednesday of each Month with the public being invited to meet us.
